Mandrare River Camp

Mandrare River Camp is a small safari camp, a three-hour drive from the nearest airport at Fort Dauphin in Madagascar, or it can also be reached by light aircraft. The camp's location provides exclusive access to the otherworldly Spiny Forest.

The seven en suite tents are all located in the shade of tamarind trees with views over the tranquil waters of the Mandrare River and the sacred mountains behind. Artful wooden furniture is individually hand carved to represent a different local wildlife theme of southeastern Madagascar, and there’s a private terrace and a fully equipped bathroom.

Meals can be enjoyed either in the private atmosphere of your own terrace or in the open dining area with a view of the nearby river bank. Between the activities a varied barbeque is served.

Activities at Mandrare River Camp are focused on exploring the area’s diverse wildlife, either on foot or in a 4x4. After a day out and about, return to the camp’s small plunge pool and lounge and bar area.
