Awasi Atacama

Surrounded by lush gardens, Awasi Atacama is an oasis amid the immense Atacama Desert, the aridest place on Earth. This Relais & Chateaux property is located in the historic town of San Pedro de Atacama; this intimate resort blends into the landscape and offers guests a range of bespoke private experiences.

Ten private cottages are set within an ancient adobe wall, each with its own solarium, patio, and indoor and outdoor showers. The spacious round and rectangular structures feature king-sized or twin beds, elegant writing tables, comfortable reading nooks, and alpaca blankets. They are also family-friendly.

The open-air restaurant serves Chilean and international dishes infused with unique flavours and complemented by Chilean wines. Guests can book cookery lessons with the chef.

Each suite has its own 4WD and private guide. Explore the Atacama Desert, visit archaeological sites, float in a salt lake, bathe in hot springs, visit local villages, and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.

Location & Getting There
Situated in the remote Atacama Desert in the north of Chile, Awasi Atacama is Chile’s archaeological capital. It is a 1-hour drive from Calama Airport.

Accommodation
The hotel provides 12 very unique thatched-roof cottages built of stone, adobe, and wood. Round Rooms boast private solariums with an outdoor shower, bathroom, and closet, while Superior Round Suites have an additional writing desk. A private terrace can be shared if guests choose to occupy both the Round Room and a Superior Round Suite. Rectangular Suites also feature a private solarium with an outdoor shower, along with desks and reading armchairs, a bathroom, and a walk-in closet.

Activities
Awasi Atacama offers a multitude of tailor-made private excursions in modern 4x4s to volcanoes, salt flats, hot springs, and archaeological sites. Guests can also go hiking, horse riding or biking, visit local villages or stroll through San Pedro. After a day of unforgettable adventures, laze by the pool or sip a glass of superb Chilean wine by the open-air fire in the outdoor lounge.

Children
The hotel caters to families and there are plenty of child-friendly activities on offer. However, be cautioned that young children may not easily adapt to the high altitude.
