Anderssons Camp Ongava

Nestled in mopane scrub on white calcrete soils, Andersson’s Camp is situated 4.5 km from Etosha’s Andersson Gate in Namibia. The camp was named after Swedish explorer Charles Andersson – one of the first Europeans to discover Etosha, Africa’s largest saltpan.

Ongava was founded on bold ideas – land reclamation and rehabilitation, reintroducing wildlife, and creating a partnership for the future that is vital for the health of the planet and our souls. Taking a lesson from the wild in the power of symbiotic relationships, Anderssons at Ongava provides an interactive hub for guests to participate in conservation science, where cutting-edge technology meets hands-on, field-based research.

Ensuring a light footprint and an exceptional experience, Anderssons at Ongava will have seven contemporary luxury guest units and one family unit, accommodating a maximum of 18 Guests. With colours, textures and materials that connect guests more closely to the safari experience, the guest suites at Anderssons at Ongava are designed to inspire.

The Anderssons at Ongava guest suites are designed to directly extend the landscape, with a natural stone buttress that draws guests in and engenders a deep sense of place. Each suite has a private viewing deck with a 180-degree panorama. Each guest suite comprises en-suite facilities with a separate toilet, double indoor shower and outdoor shower, double vanity basin, mosquito net, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer and electronic safe. During winter, cosy hot water bottles and extra blankets are provided.

Guests at Anderssons at Ongava have the option of being immersed in and can contribute to developing creative, knowledge-driven solutions with resident scientists, visiting researchers, conservationists and rhino security personnel or simply relaxing and enjoying the luxurious guest suites, waterhole, photographic hide, and pool where they will find their place for reflection.

Location & Getting There

Anderssons Camp is situated 4.5 km from Etosha’s Andersson Gate in Namibia.

Accommodation

Formerly an old farmstead, the camp is nestled in mopane scrub with the scenic backdrop of the low Ondundozonanandana mountain range and is an exciting example of sustainable construction. Each of the 20 tents is raised on decks for enhanced views of the passing wildlife, while the main area overlooks a productive waterhole.

Activities

Undercover and open-air dining area, a spacious lounge with waterhole views, curio shop, library, infinity edge pool, water level photographic hide, wi-fi service in the lounge, and a dedicated guide and shared game drive vehicle.

Activities on site (some may be seasonal): Bird watching, Game drives, Game viewing, Nature walks, Rhino approaching, Photographic hide, and Visit the Ongava Research Centre.

Children

Children from 3 years old are most welcome at Anderssons Camp, although the experience may be better suited to those aged 8+. The minimum age for walking activities is 13 years; and 16 years old for rhinos approaching on foot.
