SUJÁN Jawai

Rajasthan

Set among the dramatic granite hills of Rajasthan’s Aravalli range, SUJÁN Jawai offers one of India’s most distinctive wildlife experiences. Located between Jodhpur and Udaipur, this intimate tented camp sits in a region where leopards roam freely alongside traditional Rabari herding communities. With just ten tented suites, the atmosphere is private and low key. Jawai works beautifully as a contrast to Rajasthan’s palaces and forts, offering open landscapes, big skies and a slower rhythm between the cities.

Accommodation

The camp has ten spacious tented suites, including eight luxury tents and two larger suites that work well for families. The interiors are elegant but relaxed, with soft Rajasthani textiles, handcrafted details and a neutral palette that lets the landscape take centre stage. Each tent has a comfortable king-sized bed, air conditioning, an en-suite bathroom with a freestanding bathtub, and a private verandah overlooking the wilderness. The layout of the camp ensures privacy while still feeling welcoming and intimate.

Food & Drink

Dining at SUJÁN Jawai is relaxed and generous, with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients and regional flavours. Many ingredients are sourced locally or grown in the camp’s own kitchen garden. Meals might be served beside the pool, under an acacia tree or beneath the stars. Traditional Rajasthani dishes sit alongside lighter international options, and private bush breakfasts or candlelit dinners can be arranged in secluded spots around the camp.

Experiences

Leopard tracking is the highlight here. Guided by experienced naturalists and local trackers, guests head out in open 4x4 vehicles to explore the surrounding hills and scrubland in search of these elusive cats. Jawai is not a national park, but a shared landscape where wildlife and village life coexist. Alongside leopards, you may encounter hyena, sloth bear, jackal and a wide variety of birdlife. Between drives, guests can enjoy guided walks, visits to Rabari villages, temple visits and hilltop sundowners. There is also a small spa tent offering restorative treatments, an inviting swimming pool and comfortable lounge areas for time to unwind.

Children

SUJÁN Jawai welcomes families, particularly those with older children who will appreciate the wildlife experience and the rhythm of safari life. Family tented suites provide additional space and privacy.

Best Time to Visit

October to April offers the most comfortable temperatures for wildlife viewing. Leopard sightings are possible year-round, though the warmer months can provide excellent visibility as animals gather near water sources.

How to Get There

SUJÁN Jawai is approximately a 2.5 to 3-hour drive from both Jodhpur and Udaipur airports. Private transfers can be arranged, and the camp pairs well with itineraries including Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur.
