Kulala Desert Lodge

Sossusvlei

Situated within the Namib Desert which is the oldest desert in the world, Sossusvlei is an enormous clay pan, flanked by the famous sand dunes that stand out starkly against the blue sky and flush red in the early morning sun.

From the lodge guests are privy to the wonders of the sparsely distributed desert-adapted wildlife such as ostrich, springbok and gemsbok as they eke out an existence. Smaller creatures such as bat-eared fox and aardwolf can be seen at night in the cool desert air.

Accommodation comprises 23 thatched and canvas “kulalas” with en suite bathrooms and verandas. The main area’s décor is inspired by northern Africa comprising a lounge, bar, dining area, plunge pool, and wrap-around veranda overlooking the waterhole – a perfect location to view and photograph the desert landscapes.

Nature drives and walks are the norm on safari, but Kualala also offers eco-sensitive guided quad-biking through the private reserve. We also recommend the early morning ballooning, beginning at first light.

Children

Welcome although no special childcare facilities and three family units available. Two family units being two separate rooms with separate entrances and en-suite bathrooms and a connecting deck. The remaining family kulala is a standard room with an extra bed and shared bathroom.
